What a great way to start off the month of May! We will have a state send-off for three different groups TODAY at 2:30pm. Skyrocket baseball will be our fourth group we will send off as they leave town for Stinnett to open the UIL state baseball playoffs as we play the Booker Kiowas in Stinnett for the bi-district championship at 6pm. Skyrocket nation can line up along 15th Street as each of these groups will be escorted down 15th Street by our local law enforcement and fire department passing by all three campuses all the way down to Haskell Street. Go take state Skyrocket esports, golf and track and field! Skyrocket baseball, we believe!



Wellington FFA members competed in the state land judging contest on the Tarelton State University campus last week. The team placed 1st in district and 4th in the area. Individually, Trenton Wright placed 10th in the area. Others on the team with him are Jacy Lampe, Lisette Vela and Jace Darrow. Congratulations! 🚀


Wellington FFA members competed at the state cotton judging contest at Texas Tech University last week.
The team placed 2nd in district and 7th in the area and included Brecklyn Powell, Heather Peters, Sabrina Segovia & Kenady Skelton. They are coached by Drew Taylor. Congratulations! 🚀


Wellington FFA members attended the Wichita Falls welding contest a few weeks ago. We ended up getting 14 welding certifications and a few students placed in the contest portion competing against over 35 schools and close to 1,000 students. Nick Nevarez won his division and received a new welding helmet and a top welder belt buckle. Addy Mock placed 2nd in her division and received a new welding helmet.
TJ Salinas placed 7th & RJ Granadoz placed 10th. Congratulations welders on these amazing accomplishments!


The district tennis meet was held yesterday in Vernon. Playback matches were played this morning. In varsity girls singles, Madeleine Kane is the 1st place district champion. In mixed doubles, Nixon Folk and Oakley Folk are the 1st place district champions. Carson Tarver and Presley Kane finished in 2nd place in mixed doubles also advancing to regionals. Charley Wilbur and Bryn Phillips are the girls doubles district champions. Noah Cantu and Travon Lewis played a playback match this morning with Travon finishing in 2nd place advancing to regionals. Noah Cantu is the 3rd place bronze medalist. Abby Garcia and Audrey Jones defeated Clarendon’s team in girls doubles in a playback match that was also played this morning finishing in second place advancing to regionals. In the JV division at the district tennis tournament yesterday, Addy English and Ingrid Granadoz were the 1st place girls doubles district champions, Lexee Benkley was 2nd place in girls singles and Bailey Page was 3rd place in girls singles. Lady Rockets finished as the overall varsity girls district champions! The boys and girls combined were the District 2-2A Champions as well. All players are coached by Amy Inman. One Act Play parents report the arrival time for our regional champions is around 10:55pm. They will come down Highway 83 to 15th Street. Please be lined up by 10:50. 🚀🎭🚀

The cast and crew of All My Sons are regional champions advancing to the state one act play contest in Austin May 14th! This is now only the third time in school history this has happened. Individually, junior Caleb Strickland & sophomore Damiana Peters were named to the all-star cast. For the fourth straight contest & also making school history is senior Kaseten Welch, who was named best performer. Joining Kaseten as best performer was junior Jackson Jones. WHS swept the best performer awards, the highest acting awards given at regionals. Final results were

Jaci Porter placed 3rd in the ready writing competition today at the UIL Regional Academic Meet on the campus of WTAMU. Jaci’s essay qualified her to compete at the State Academic Meet in Austin on May 15th. She is coached by Karoline Ashmore! Congratulations Jaci! 🚀🥉🚀



Best of luck to all our students competing in the UIL Region 1 Academic meet today in Canyon on the campus of West Texas A&M University. Yesterday they enjoyed a nice dinner as well as fun at Cinergy but today is all business. These kids are giving up a school holiday to compete today. Go Rockets! 🚀🚀



We love our school secretary everyday, but love getting to honor her a little extra this week. Some of our staff was out yesterday so today we presented Mrs. Fourmentin with a cash 💵 tree 🌳. We think of it as a small way to show our big love ❤️ towards Ranee. This lady is the epitome of a Skyrocket! 🚀❤️🚀


Rockets win on senior night by a final score of 17 to 7 over the Shamrock Irish. Coach Anderson and our Rockets finish district with an overall record of 6 wins and 4 losses. We will be the second seed from our district as the UIL state baseball playoffs begin next week. Thanks to seniors Fabian Pina and Ramon Rodriguez for a great end to the regular season. 🚀⚾️🚀
