Our JV boys won at home over Valley's JV by a final score of 32 to 19.
Our varsity boys won the home opener over Crowell by a final score of 72 to 28.
9th grade girls lost in overtime to Spur's JV by a final score of 25 to 31.
JV girls lost to Levelland's JV by a final score of 30 to 43.
In a battle of state ranked teams, our #9 2A Lady Rockets fell to a tough #5 4A Levelland Lady Lobos team by a final score of 32 to 37.

There is lots of basketball being played today. Our JV boys are playing at home right now while our 9th grades are wrapping things up in Jayton. JV girls and varsity girls will play Levelland in Jayton's main gym. Varsity boys play Crowell at home following the JV boys game. Go Rockets and Lady Rockets!


WHS Senior, Summer Neufeld, was honored with a dinner tonight by the La Paisana Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for being this year's Good Citizen. Summer is now their representative in the national essay contest. After dinner, Summer read her essay to those in attendance. School personnel present were Summer's English teacher Karoline Ashmore, high school counselor Ashly Cantu and principal, Jermaine Cantu. She was presented her award by Czrena Watts, DAR Regent and WHS teacher. Summer is the daughter of Henry and Maria Neufeld. Congratulations Summer!

WHS Junior and Miss Wellington 2023 Mallory O'Rear has had a busy weekend. She placed 1st runner up in the 2023 Christmas Queen pageant in Hollis on Saturday and won the 2023 Miss SW Christmas pageant today in Altus. Way to represent Wellington, Texas in Oklahoma Mallory. Congratulations! 🚀👑🚀

In the final day of tournament action today in Childress, both our varsity boys and girls dropped games to teams in upper classifications.

JV and Varsity Lady Rockets will be in action on Tuesday in Jayton against 4A Levelland. JV boys will host Valley’s JV while our Varsity boys will host Crowell.

Our JV girls are the Alicia Berry Memorial Tournament Champions defeating Memphis's Varsity Lady Cyclones tonight in Memphis by a final score of 54 to 42. Our JV Lady Rockets took down three varsity teams in winning the tournament. Sophomore, Eryn Torrez, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP). Varsity boys fell to 3A Vernon in a tight 38 to 42 game. We will play tomorrow morning at 9:20am to conclude the Childress Tournament.
Varsity girls defeated a tough 4A West Plains team 59 to 40 winning all 3 games in Childress extending our winning streak to 10 straight games. We will have another test tomorrow as we play 4A Pampa tomorrow in Childress at 6:40pm to conclude the tournament.
JV girls took down their second straight varsity team defeating Paducah by a final score of 50 to 28 advancing to the championship game where we will play Memphis's varsity tomorrow at 4:30pm for 1st place. Great job JV Lady Rockets!




In tournament action early this morning at 8am in Childress, both our varsity boys and girls were victorious. Rockets play again today at 3:30pm against the winner of Vernon and Elk City. Lady Rockets play again at 4:45 against 4A West Plains. JV girls are in the semifinals of the Memphis varsity tournament at 4:30 against Paducah.

Varsity boys dropped the season opener to Childress 34 to 60. We will next play Valley at 8am tomorrow in the Childress Tournament.
JV girls defeated Ft. Elliott's varsity 45 to 21 and now play Paducah's varsity tomorrow at 4:30pm in the Memphis Tournament.
Varsity girls defeated City View 43 to 34 and play Hermleigh at 8am and West Plains at 4:45pm in the Childress Tournament.

Congratulations to our Wellington Elementary Sparklers and Wellington Junior High School Firecrackers for winning the District 2AA Academic Meets held in Clarendon the last two days. Our junior high scored 916 points and won by over 100 points while elementary scored 623.5 points and won by over 300 points. Wellington FFA attended the Greenbelt District Banquet tonight with Heather Peter’s placing 2nd in the district talent contest.
Wellington FFA also won the first ever Greenbelt District Sweepstakes contest by accruing the most points based on placings for all our Leadership team events.
