
Jr high track meet schedule at Childress today.


Wellington High School (WHS) and Wellington Junior High School (WJHS) will have cheerleading tryouts tomorrow (Friday, March 22nd, 2024). WJHS will try out in front of the student body at 9am with high school trying out in front of the student body at 11:10am. The student body tryouts are the only portion of tryouts open to the public so feel free to come support the girls. Best of luck to all those trying out!

WHS was chosen as an advancing play at the District 2-2A One Act Play contest today with a spectacular performance of All My Sons. Individually, Kaseten Welch won one of the prestigious Best Performers award, Jackson Jones and Damiana Peters were named to the All-Star Cast, Caleb Strickland was Honorable Mention All-Star Cast and Cecilia Granadoz won a Technical Award. The play was under the direction of Lana Tillman. If you missed it today, WHS will host the bi-district competition in the WHS auditorium a week from today on Wednesday, March 27th. 🚀🎭🥇




WHS is hosting the District 2-2A One Act Play contest today (Wednesday, March 20th) in the WHS Auditorium starting at 1pm. WHS is the second play of the day so be in the theater by no later than 2pm to catch our performance. You can stay all day to watch all six great shows. We expect awards including the announcement of the three advancing shows to start around 6pm. Come support a great day of theater! 🎭🚀🎭🚀


Lady Rocket tennis competed in Seymour today. The girls doubles team of Audrey Jones and Bryn Phillips finished in second place while Madeleine Kane finished in third place in girls singles. Great job Lady Rockets! 🚀🎾🥈🥉🚀



The Wellington FFA land judging team competed in the Ochiltree County SWCD contest today in Perryton. Wellington was the 1st place team with Trenton Wright as the highest placing individual. Lisette Vela placed 7th, Heather Peters placed 10th, Jacy Lampe & Jace Darrow completed the team. Great job Wellington FFA coached by Drew Taylor! 🚀



Our Lady Rocket golf team won first as a team today in Canadian with Allie Duncan finishing as the first place individual! Others on the team with Allie were Emma Flores, Briley Waters, Brynlee Proffitt and Maggie Tillman. Congratulations ladies!

WHS tennis had a good day in Seymour today. The team of Nixon Folk and Oakley Folk defeated Carson Tarver and Presley Kane to finish 1st and 2nd respectively in mixed doubles. Jontae Roland won boys singles division B! Girls will play tennis tomorrow. Congratulations! 🚀🎾🥇🥈🚀

WHS had 5 of our best and brightest in the Miss Irish Rose Scholarship Pageant today in Shamrock. Harlee Gomez finished as the 1st runner up, Summer Neufeld made the top ten and was named Most Photogenic, Audrey Jones made the top ten and Ava Garcia and Mallory O'Rear were stunning contestants. Thanks to all five for representing Wellington so well! 🚀

In less than 24 hours, the Wellington community raised $1150 for our friends in Canadian that were impacted by the wildfires. WHS Principal, Jermaine Cantu, presented the checks and cash to CHS Principal, James Bryant at the track meets today in Canadian. 🚀🐯❤️🖤💛❤️

In conjunction with community member Karen Caldwell, the Wellington High School Student Council will be donating money to benefit fire victims in Canadian. The WHS Student Council will donate $200, but if you feel led to donate please contact Jermaine Cantu at the high school or Karen Caldwell as we would like to take our donations tomorrow afternoon in time for the junior high track meet Canadian is hosting.
