It was a tough day at the Region 1 tennis tournament in Amarillo today. WHS took 11 student athletes that had either won district or was the district runner-up. Only Summer Owens was able to win all 3 matches today and advance to the region 1 championship which will be played tomorrow for a chance to advance to the state tennis tournament. Good luck Summer! -Nixon Folk and Carson Tarver won round one but fell in round two of boys doubles

-Audrey Jones and Barret Phillips lost in round one of mixed doubles
-Madeleine Kane won in round one but fell in round two of girls singles

Our varsity boys golf team finished as the 2nd place district runner-up advancing the team to regionals. Individually, Caleb Weinette was the District Champion! Others on the team with Caleb include Hunter Stark, Conner Kane, Dakota Marshall, and Caleb Strickland.
The Lady Rocket golf team finished in 3rd place just narrowly missing advancing to regionals. The team includes Kaitlin Bawcom, Kendra Bawcom, Summer Neufeld, Briley Waters, and Emma Flores.
Congratulations to all and good luck at regionals boys! Regionals will be played on April 18 and 19th at the Palo Duro Canyon Golf Course. Go Rockets!
Under the direction of Lana Tillman, the Wellington High School One Act Play is advancing to regionals winning the area championship today in Lubbock. Wellington finished 1st, Boys Ranch 2nd, WT High 3rd, Olton was the alternate advancing play in 4th, Panhandle was 5th and Farwell was 6th. The top three schools advanced to regionals! Individually, we took in several awards.
Brandon Cooper won a technical award.
Summer Neufeld and Kaseten Welch earned honorable mention all-star cast.
Madi Armstrong was all-star cast.
For the third straight competition, Hadlee Gomez was named the best performer/best actress.

Here is an updated track schedule for the Junior High District Track Meet held here in Wellington. Please note the meet has been moved up to a 9am start.
The high school baseball game against Nazareth has been moved to 1 PM tomorrow (Saturday) due to weather and conflicts.
The alumni baseball game will be played at 6 pm on Saturday.

It was another successful day for Skyrocket tennis.
Fabian Pina and Bryant Tarver defeated the team from Wheeler 7-5 and 6-3 to win second place in boys doubles advancing to regionals with the district champion team also from Wellington, Nixon Folk and Carson Tarver.
Madeleine Kane defeated Ford from Panhandle 6-0 and 6-0 to win second place in girls singles advancing to regionals with the district champion also from Wellington, Summer Owens.
Wellington boys and girls both win the district titles in tennis with the boys finishing with 75 points and the girls with 55 points.
WHS had 11 tennis players advance to regionals which will we played on April 11 and 12th at Rebel Tennis Center in Amarillo. It's a great day to be Rockets!
WHS Student Council collected 100 boxes of cereal for Wellington Opportunity Center during their annual cereal drive. Pictured are Madison Waters—President, Marlene Jantes—Vice President, Isabella Rodriguez—Treasurer, and Desyre Sanchez—Member.
The sophomore and senior classes tied for being the class that brought the most boxes. They will get a long lunch.
